We had so much fun with your campers this week! We hope that you hear all about their fun experiences and how God worked in their lives this week.
This morning at worship the campers recapped what we had talked about all week. It was great to see the campers reciting their memory verse and singing and praising God for the last time this week. This morning they sang:
Fruit of the Spirit
Today after body on bunk time, the campers got involved in a water war! There was plenty of splashing and screaming to go around! Check out more photos here!
The campers were once again visited by the angels. This morning the angels told us the story of David cutting the corner of Saul's robe. David knew that Saul wanted him dead, but chose not to harm Saul while he had the chance. David confessed later to Saul about the robe because David had a good heart.
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. -1 Corinthians 10:12-13
Our challenge today is to try to have a Godly heart and be kind to one another. To go along with our worship service this morning, we sang:
I Just Wanna Be A Sheep
Mercy is Falling
This morning at worship, the campers heard once again from their angel friends. They told us about how David conquered Goliath even though no one really believed he could. David faced the challenge of Goliath, but what are some challenges we may face at camp?
We learned that as long as we put our faith and trust in God he will help us conquer those challenges. Today, the campers were given a mission to meet someone new and learn at least one thing about that person.
Our morning songs were:
Fruit of the Spirit
Lord I Lift Your Name on High
The Good Samaritan
Campfire at the central worship site to ward off the viscous mosquitos so that we can praise God through song. Everyone is learning all the fun hand motions to the songs we have been singing all week like Romans 16:19, I'm Trading My Sorrows, and Show Me the Way. Watching the staff and counsellors getting goofy with the campers, but still learning about all the awesome miracles Jesus performed in the Bible. Tonight we are looking at Luke 10:25, the parable of the good samaritan. After the reading of the word we had a few campers and one counselor volunteer to act out the verse for all the other campers. The story of the Good Samaritan helps us to see the gifts that we have and can use to serve others, like "helping our babysitters" and "letting our neighbors use our basements during bad storms."
Here at Pine Creek there is a competition everyday to see who can have the cleanest cabin. There are categories that go into the judging process and all cabins do everything they can to impress the judges. Here is what Strawberry Hill 1 came up with today! We are so encouraged by their enthusiasm to show their love for Jesus!
The angels returned this morning to tell us about Godly service. We learned that any service we do matters to God. In the story of David, David does a service for Saul. David plays the harp and uses his talents to calm Saul down.
The campers were challenged to come up with some of their talents that they can use to serve others. Today, the campers are looking for ways they can serve others at camp.
Worship songs this morning included:
Lord, I Lift Your Name on High
Due to rain, worship this evening was in the Ark. The campers sang lots of fun songs:
The Butterfly Song
Rocks My Blues
My Rock, My Sword, My Shield
Bananas for the Lord
We recapped what we talked about this morning about how David was called upon by the Lord to be king. We focused on this Bible verse:
Put on the helmet of salvation. And take the sword of the Holy Spirit. The sword is God's word. -Ephesians 6:17
Our Bibles are our swords. We can use them as we need them, but also study them and use them as often as we can.
One cabin pair enjoyed our Adventure Trail this morning. Adventure Trail is our team building activity where campers work together to complete challenges. They also play some really fun group games! See some more pictures in the gallery!
Worship this Morning
This morning during worship the campers sang a couple songs to wake them up and get the service started. We sang: "Alive, Awake, Alert, Enthusiastic" and "My Rock, My Sword, My Shield."
David had a big part to play in this morning's story. We learned all about how David had a willing heart and God saw that and acknowledged it. We enjoyed a wonderful skit put on by some of the counselors who taught us that God looks at our hearts, not our outsides.
he will bless those who fear the Lord— small and great alike. -Psalm 115:13
This evening at worship the campers learned about the Bible. The Bible is the most important and influential book in our lives. We learned that the Bible is our passageway to Jesus.
Tonight at worship the campers were handed Bibles that they can take with them and read for the rest of their lives.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. -Psalm 119:105
We are so excited to be spending this week with your campers! So far today they played games, ate some chicken patties for dinner, then headed off to swim tests! The kids did great swimming the length of the pool! Check out more pictures from today here!
