Girls Horseback Riding
Several of the boys made it all the way to the top and walked across the balance beam. It has a certain Fear Factor quality.
During tonight’s special fireside service, everyone wrote down things they want to see change in their lives and tossed them into the fire.
We talked about Jesus as a shepherd wanting to take care of us. We also talked about ourselves as works in progress to help us understand that we’re not perfect and we’re not going to somehow become that way on our own, no matter how hard we may try. Point blank, we need Christ, that’s all there is to it.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!** **For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!** **Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. [- Romans 5:1-11](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/rom.5.1 "Romans 5:1-11")
While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?** **Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”** **Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,** **and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.** **You are witnesses of these things.** **I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” [- Luke 24:36-49](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/luk.24.36 "Luke 24:26-49")

Boys Mega Swing
Everyone enjoyed riding the mega swing today.
The big idea for today was for everyone to see that we can do some things to “treat the symptoms,” so to speak, but the only one big enough to heal us from the inside is Christ. And, he can heal more than just physical things. Jesus loves us no matter what and grace is always there for us…Jesus is our healer, and that’s what he really wants to do for all of us.
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,”said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.** **As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.** **While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,”he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam”(this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said. [- John 9:1-12](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/jhn.9.1 "John 9:1-12")
One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.** **Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.** **When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said,“Friend, your sins are forgiven.”** **The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?** **Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?** **But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”** **Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.” [- Luke 5:17-26](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/luk.5.17 "Luke 5:17-26")
Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed.** **One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”** **“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.”** **At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, [- John 5:1-9](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/jhn.5.niv "John 5:1-9")

Campers went on the long and windy adventure trail, stopping at every bend for team-building games. Pictured above the boys trusted each other to hold the net while they took turns climbing and jumping over the bar onto a foam crash pad.
This morning we talked a lot about hearing God’s voice in the middle of all the others, and discerning truth from false teaching.
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.** **By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?** **Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.** **A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.** **Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.** **Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”[ – Matthew 7:15-20](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/mat.7.15-20.niv "Matthew 7:15-20")
Tonight we talked about the wise man who built his house upon the rock and the foolish man who built his house upon the sand. We showed them how, in the creek after the storms, the sand is washing away down the creek but the rocks aren’t moving, and we have to be the same way. We can’t give up and quit every time we face a storm, or we’re just like the sand. Instead, we have to listen for what God is trying to say, follow His truth, and base our choice of who to follow on that.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.** **The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.** **But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.** **The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,** **because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law. - Corn Dogs
- Mac and Cheese
- Green Beans
The boys headed to the rock wall for some morning climbing.
Arts and Crafts
The girls made super hero masks and braided friendship bracelets.
Tonight we learned a lot about friendship. The kids listened to the story of Lazarus – [John 11:1-45](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/jhn.11.niv "John 11:1-45"), Christ’s friend whom he raised from the dead.
Jesus wants us all to break out of our own “tombs” (whatever they might be made of) and be the best we can be, because that’s really what a true friend wants for his friends.
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.** **If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.** **I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.** **My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.** **Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.** **You are my friends if you do what I command.** **I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.** **You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.** **This is my command: Love each other.” [- John 15:9-17](https://www.bible.com/bible/111/jhn.15.niv "John 15:9-17")

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”** **They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
