These future heroes need your heroic leadership today.
We at Impact 2818 are so excited to welcome several new Summer Staff to our team each year. Without Summer Staff, camp simply would not happen. As you prayerfully consider becoming a part of our team, we want to tell you a little bit about what it means to work at our camps. It’s exciting, rewarding and tons of fun, but you will undoubtedly face many challenges as well. Being on our camp Summer Staff is not for everyone; if you don’t believe you fit our description, please do not apply.
As a member of Summer Staff, we expect you to work long, hard hours with a servant’s heart. Camp is not a 9-5 job. You will get up early, work late and be on call 24/7 in the case of emergencies. We are a ministry and are looking for individuals who are ready to serve joyfully for long periods of time. You will be paid, but no one is here for the money. We expect you to “see it, own it, solve it and do it.” This means that you should take initiative to make camp the best that it can be, no matter what. When you see a problem, you take ownership of it and follow through with a solution. We expect you to carry your own weight, accomplish your own responsibilities, and then ask what you can do to help your teammates.
We expect you to be flexible. It’s camp life – it doesn’t always go according to plan and it’s not always perfect, but we expect you to be able to roll with the punches, be a team player, and jump in whenever help is needed. You are expected to always treat our guests with kindness, love and hospitality. There will be times when you are tired, frustrated and ready to throw in the towel. Even so, we expect you to represent Christ at all times; your words and actions should always be glorifying to Him.
We expect you to communicate. If you don’t understand an assignment, ask. If you need help, a moment to rest, or a word of encouragement, let us know. You will need to make time for your own physical, emotional and mental needs. We expect you to take care of yourself and maintain a consistent work ethic throughout the entire summer. Camp is taxing and time consuming; your fellow staff and supervisors will do all they can to help you be successful, but you must be willing to communicate openly.
We expect you to be deeply committed to following Jesus Christ. You are to be an example of Christ to each camper, leader and guest that arrives on site. We’re looking for staffers who can show by example what it means to live for Christ and who are comfortable sharing their faith freely and openly with others. We do not expect perfection, but we do expect you to be focused on our mission, which is “making disciples for Jesus Christ by nurturing transformational Christ-centered communities”. Camp is a wonderful place to make new friends, grow in your own faith, and practice skills to use later in life; but, first and foremost, we are here to create an environment where students can experience Jesus Christ. This must always come first.
In return, you will have the opportunity to be used by God in amazing ways. You will impact the lives of hundreds of individuals for Jesus Christ, and you will see first-hand the way He uses camp for the betterment of His Kingdom. You will be rewarded with tons of fun, a camp staff that becomes more like family, and memories to last you a lifetime. Please prayerfully consider joining our Summer Staff team before applying. Whether here or elsewhere, we pray the Lord will use your strengths to His benefit.
