Campers have had a nice, cool start to the day here at Camp REYOAD. We enjoyed more fishing and boating this morning along with some nature hikes, baking classes, worship time and BINGO! The Older Adult group spent the morning playing bingo and winning some AWESOME prizes!! We’re getting ready for a delicious lunch (chicken sandwiches!) and a great Jamboree this afternoon.
It’s time for another great day at Camp REYOAD
You missed a great game, folks, but don’t worry – we’ve got the REYOAD campers here to give you the recap. Goodnight from Camp REYOAD!
Coolin’ off at the beach
Campers cooled off in the lake this afternoon and enjoyed some swim time and Beach House snacks. Now that we’ve finished dinner (lasagna, YUM!) we’re headed to the FAMOUS annual kickball game between the Moravian campers and the REYOAD campers. Stay tuned for pictures, videos and to find out who the winner is!
Clothe yourself with patience
This afternoon’s Jamboree was full of joy and liveliness. Even though it’s the third day of camp everyone is still energetic and excited to be here praising the Lord! We sang some of the great songs from yesterday’s worship in addition to a fun new song, Trading My Sorrows, by Darrell Evans.
Pastor Dave spoke with the campers today about patience. Our Bible verse for the week (Col 3:12) says we should clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and finally…patience! As imperfect humans, we are often impatient throughout our daily lives – we want what we want right now, and we don’t want to have to wait at all. But we learned today that impatience often gets us into trouble, just as it got Adam and Eve in trouble (Genesis 2). God asked them not to eat from one tree – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil – but Eve was tempted by the devil and was impatient, so she ate an apple from the forbidden tree anyway. Because of her impatience, Adam and Eve were forced to leave the Garden of Eden.
To close the Jamboree, Pastor Dave’s drama class showed everyone an awesome skit that tells the story of Adam and Eve’s impatience and reminds us to always be patient and wait on the Lord.
Sailing the seas
The rainy morning turned into a bright and sunny afternoon just for us! Campers are out and about fishing, taking boat rides, making crafts and playing games. The wind is strong today making boat rides even MORE fun than usual! Don’t forget to check out more photos from this week HERE!
We’ve got talented campers, folks!
The talent show was AMAZING!! There was singing, dancing, comedy, poetry and even a skit performance put on by the counselors! All of the campers did a fantastic job showing off their talents and everyone had a blast watching! Here’s a peek at what you missed during tonight’s talent show – the young adults showed us all how to dance the “interlude!”
What a fantastic day of camp playing games, having fun and learning all about God’s love. We can’t wait for tomorrow, and we’ll be up bright and early for morning worship!
Beach bummin’ around
We’re thanking God the rain finally stopped! Campers relaxed on the beach and took a dip in the cool lake this afternoon.
Learning to truly love others
This afternoon our Jamboree began with some fun worship songs led by the Epworth Staff:
- Lord I Lift Your Name on High - Lincoln Brewster
- Our God – Chris Tomlin
- Happy Day – Tim Hughes
- This is the Day
- Jesus Loves Me - Christy Nockels
The campers had so much fun singing and dancing, especially to the song Happy Day!
Today campers learned more about what it means to be God’s chosen and holy people. Pastor Dave reminded us that love isn’t just a feeling. When we love someone, we need to show it through our actions as well as our words. We are called by Jesus to love and serve all of those around us, even when we don’t want to. Today we focused on Matthew 25:31-46, a passage that reminds us to love those around us.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. - Matthew 25:34-40
Rain, rain, go away…
It’s been a little rainy this morning at camp but campers are making the best of it with indoor crafts and games! We’re hoping the weather will clear up so everyone can enjoy some time down by the beach later this afternoon…but first we’re headed to a delicious lunch of Philly cheese steak sandwiches!
Day two of Camp REYOAD has begun
After an AMAZING first day filled with activities, games, boat rides and Bible lessons, the campers are all ready for bed. Check out some photos from the day HERE. We can’t wait for day number two of Camp REYOAD! Goodnight!
It’s Dixie time!
The campers had a BLAST riding the Dixie Boat around Webster Lake this afternoon. We are so thankful for the beautiful weather.
The Good News
During today’s afternoon Jamboree, Pastor Dave spoke with campers about being the chosen people of God. Our scripture focus of the week is Colossians 3:12, which says, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Today the campers learned that they are loved deeply by the Creator of the heavens and the earth! Because we are so loved by God, we are called to love others as well. We are called to spread the good news and the love of Christ to all of those around us!
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. -Romans 5:6-8

Today is going to be a great day here at Camp REYOAD!
