End of Week Video
Today before the story, campers sang:
Today Director Karen told the campers the you never have to go looking for God because He is always with them. The theme for today is “the Bible shows me that God is always with me everyday”. The Bible story, Acts 27: 1-44 , talks about when Paul stands firm in his faith, even in a shipwreck. The verse today is “Nothing at all can ever separate us from God’s love because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.” Romans 8: 39
Tonight at Vespers the campers sang:
Tonight Director Karen talked about how Jesus brought them back to perfection by dying on the cross for our sins. She used giant beads to illustrate the different parts to Jesus’s story.
- Yellow- represents Jesus
- Black – represents sin that separates people from God
- Red – represents the blood that was spilt
- White – represents our clean hearts because Jesus died for us
- Green – represents how Jesus wants everyone to grow in him
Tonight every camper was given their own normal size bracelet to take home with them so they can always remember what each bead represents.

A Message from the Spiritual Director
Discovery Time at Camp Lakewood is a time in the morning for the campers to worship together and then the director introduces the theme and verse of the day. Every day has a bible story that goes along with it as well. Today during Discovery Time worship the campers sang:
The theme this week is Yo Ho Ho Treasure, and campers are learning that the Bible is the map to the ultimate treasure, Jesus Christ. The campers were visited by a couple of pirates before the bible story. The story, which can be found in John 19:1-20:18, is the story of Jesus dying for the world’s sins and how he wants to be everyone’s forever friends. The bible verse for today comes from John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not parish but have eternal life.”
Vespers is a time at Vesper Hill where campers do worship and learn a bible story. Tonight at Vespers the campers sang:
The Bible story tonight comes from Matthew 14: 22-33. Jesus walks on water to the disciples and asks Peter to join him. Peter is walking on water until he takes his eyes off Jesus and starts to sink.
The verse for tonight is “In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.” Psalm 25:1
