Day 6: June 21

Morning Activities: High Ropes

I4012 7 (1) I4012 15 (1)

This morning, campers got to try out the high ropes course. Most of them were doing this for the first time but you wouldn’t know it because they acted like pros the whole way through.

Morning Worship: Today’s Thoughts are Tomorrow’s Actions

Morning Set List:

Pharaoh Pharaoh

Big House – Audio Adrenaline

We Won’t Be Quiet – David Crowder Band

Me Without You – Toby Mac

This morning’s topic was used to help campers use their minds to think about their pursuit with a relationship with God. Director Amy spoke about different things that might try to pull us away from our walk. The main question asked was, “What keeps you from God?”  She then played a clip from online where the two main characters were speaking to an audience about how people put God in a corner in a way. The one thing that campers took from this whole clip was in the end, maybe it’s ourselves that is in the way of our walk.

Day 5: June 20th

Evening Worship: Relationships

Tonight’s Set List:

Blessed Be Your Name – Matt Redman

Nothing But The Blood – Andy Cherry

Mighty To Save – Hillsong

Tonight campers were challenged to think about relationships that they are currently in or are preparing for in the future. Both Pastor Perry and Director Amy spoke on different aspects of this topic.

Amy told the story about her grandparents. She explained that they had been married for a long time and that they worked together as one unit in their marriage. She went on to tell campers that her grandfather was blind and her grandmother was deaf. “One can’t work with out the other because where one was weak in an area, the other could do that task,” she said.

Pastor Perry told the story of his grandparents and how his grandfather took care of his grandmother even when she was put into a nursery home.

Pastor Perry then had campers turn their chairs from everyone and sit facing away. He then asked a series of questions that allowed campers to think deeper about qualities of a good relationship. One important question he ran across them was, “In your relationship now or one you will have in the future is there room for Jesus?”

Campers enjoyed the deep thought out questions and really took what Pastor Perry said to heart.

“The hope is that campers can get a true understanding of what love and lust are. Real love is selfless, where lust is selfish,” he said.

Evening Activity: Water Olympics

I4012 3 (2) I4012 46 I4012 116

Campers had a blast with the different types of water activities such as Drip, Drip, Splat (a water version of the classic game Duck, Duck, Goose), over under fill the bucket, and the gaulent (run and try to dodge soaked sponges of water).  No camper left dry.  In some eyes, that’s a mission accomplished.

Afternoon Activities: Ultimate Frisbee the Big Showdown

I4012 3 (1) I4012 8

Campers put their game faces on and their teamwork up to the challenge in an all-camp ultimate frisbee game. Ironically after a long game, it ended with a tie.

Morning Worship: Praying

I4012 1 I4012 5

This Morning’s Set List

Pharaoh Pharaoh

Here Is Our King – David Crowder Band

You Are My Joy – David Crowder Band

Oh Praise Him – David Crowder Band

Director Amy discussed how and what prayer should look like this morning with campers. As simple as prayer may seem, sometimes we have to take a step back and reevaluate how we pray, what we pray for, and what the motive behind the prayer is. Amy went on to say, “Prayer is not about the big words we use. Its talking like you would with your friends.” She then discussed why we pray and the importance of prayer. “We are dependent of God to survive in this world. Praying is showing that dependency” she said. The tricky part of prayer is thinking about our motives behind the words we share with God. Prayer can contain words to God that shows our wants or our desires, and at times that can be difficult to define those motives within ourselves because we are imperfect people.

After the lesson campers had time to create a craft that symbolized what they thought God was to them.

Evening Worship: Qualities of a Good Friend

I4012 12

Tonight started with two rounds of worship.

Tonight’s Set List

Big House – Audio Adrenaline

We Wont Be Quiet – David Crowder Band

Never Ending – David Crowder Band

Oh Happiness – David Crowder Band

Mighty to Save – Hill Song

Blessed Be Your Name – Matt Redman

Nothing but the Blood – Andy Cherry

Forever Reign –  Kristian Stanfill

Tonight’s topic dealt with qualities we try to find in our friends. Director Amy asked campers, “What qualities do we look for in friends that we want to keep?” The main traits that kept coming up from all the groups were honesty, loyalty, caring, and respect. After that Amy asked, “With what you answered, are these same things that your friends find in you?”

Another part of the discussion looked at the different clicks people form. Amy discussed that although clicks can help us be with our friends, at the same time, we have to think about if we are leaving some out of our circle of friends. “Leave no one out,” she said repeatedly.

Tonight’s Scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:33

Proverbs 13:20

James 1:19

Afternoon Activities: Indoor Fun

I4012 2 I4012 29

Even though a thunderstorm came through today and canceled the rest of our outdoor activities, campers were having a blast playing different types of indoor games like Apples to Apples, Guess Who Said It (a game where campers put a response to a topic and they try to guess who said it). After awhile councilor Kyle taught campers a few basic self defense moves. Kyle is a teacher at a martial arts school in Evansville.

Morning Activities: Giant Swing and Gaga Pit Round 2

I4012 56 I4012 28

Campers couldn’t get enough of the giant swing and gaga pit. Campers that didn’t go all the way to the top of the giant swing yesterday challenged themselves and went all the way today. One camper even said, “I am conquering my fear of heights today.”

Morning Worship: Friendship That Lasts Forever

I4012 6

Today’s topic  was about having a deep friendship that will last a lifetime and further. Director Amy told campers about her friend, Kendra, and how they have been best friends since second grade. Although they don’t see each other that much anymore, the bond they have is still strong and lasting. This same concept of having a strong deep bond that lasts forever can be applied to the relationship we have with Jesus.

This Morning’s Set List:

Steal My Show – Tobymac

God’s Not Dead – News Boys

Undignified – David Crowder Band

Evening Worship: The Road to Healing

I4012 100

Tonight’s worship started with some of Indicoso’s summer staff leading the following set:

Our God – Chris Tomilin

At Your Name – Phil Wickham

Blessed Be Your Name – Matt Redman

Forever Reign – Kristian Stanfill

Pastor Perry spoke about different times in life that we can find ourselves angry with God. He told the story about losing his wife in a car accident. Even though it was a difficult time in his life, he came to the realization that his wife touched several people’s lives. With that in mind, he has been able to help other people that have gone through similar situations. He then said, “The road to healing starts when you give God your sorrow so that you can further make him the center of your life.” Campers at the end of his talked prayed to God about their burdens.

Morning Worship: The Mask We Wear

I4012 18 I4012 24

Campers started today off with a silly activity of making masks. The lesson this morning focused on the different types of mask people wear for different reasons. Director Amy explained that, ” Behind every perfect mask, there are imperfect people.” She then went on to say that the “best impression to God is to be yourself.” Amy challenged campers to think about themselves internally and with that to simply “be who you really are.” A few videos were played, one being a hidden camera that caught everyday people doing acts of kindness to people they didn’t know. Amy asked campers what stuck out most to them. One camper said, ” people were kind hearted.” Another camper said “people being Jesus to others.”

Green bracelets let them swim in both the shallow and deep end. Once the swim test was over, everyone got to enjoy some time in the pool.

Pre-Dinner Activity: Photo Scavenger Hunt

I4012 9

Campers started the evening off with a photo scavenger hunt so they could get familiar with the camp and the staff. The girl’s cabin won by a land slide against the boy’s cabin.
